New Hampshire Summer Math Circle 2022

The New Hampshire Summer Math Circle at Rivier University is a challenging encounter with unusual mathematics, targeted at interested and motivated high school students,. There will be no homework, quizzes, or grades. The emphasis is on mathematical exploration in a social context, through direct discovery and student-student collaboration. Sophisticated mathematical ideas will be explored in an accessible, highly interactive manner.

The program is hosted by Rivier University, and sponsored by the New Hampshire Math Circle. Rivier University is a private liberal arts university founded in 1933 and located in Nashua, New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Math Circle is a non-profit organization dedicated to student mathematical enrichment, founded in 2019.

This year we will investigate a number of math topics not on the usual school curriculum, including: Rational Ropes, Calculus without Limits, Factor Stencils, The Stick Game, and Paper Calculators.

Each day of the Summer Math Circle will consist of an hour of math, a break for lunch and games, and another hour of math. Participants should bring their own brown bag lunch. On Friday, we will have our final math celebration.
