New Hampshire’s top 37 student mathematicians were joined by 13 other teams from all over New England for the 50th annual American Regions Mathematics League competition. After several weeks of online practices, the three New Hampshire teams (the Rationals, Naturals, and Transcendentals) met at Saint Anselm College on Friday May 30th. Friday evening was filled with more practices, math activities, games, and socializing with the team. After a good night’s sleep on campus, New Hampshire’s competitors got up early for a 7am breakfast on Saturday morning, and the challenging contest began at 8am. The Team Round and the Power Round emphasized team collaboration and cooperation. This was followed by the Individual Round, which measured solo performance, and the Relay Round. We finished up with a celebration featuring award presentations and well-deserved ice cream for mathletes and their proud parents.
The Rationals scored 128 points, placing us 21st out of 52 teams in our Division. This is a significant improvement over last year, and allowed us to outpace arch-rival Vermont who scored 91 points. The Naturals scored 55 points, also an improvement over last year. The Transcendentals finished with 25 points. Full results for all teams are available here. Congratulations go to our top three Individual Round scorers Rishabh Prashant Murthy, Maxwell Sun, and Samarth Sharma, closely followed by Aron Fekete, Pratham Mukewar, and Vaibhav Rastogi. Our top Natural scorer Noah Haskell, and top Transcendental scorers Aniruddh Sridhar and Basil Thomas. Pratham, Noah, and Sriya Bodagala served as Team Captains.
We’d also like to recognise graduating ARML seniors Aron Fekete, Hannah Jacob, Mike Mo, William Perkins, Vedant Patil, and Anjan Yalamanchili. You will be missed!
